I run because… I love wine & chocolate

I’m super excited to share some news with you guys. Recently my doctor gave me the ok to go ahead & start running again! For those of you that didn’t know, I love running. I got injured a year and some months ago while training for a marathon & I hadn’t been able to run since then. So last year was particularly interesting for me ‘cuz I had to find different ways to exercise & keep in shape while not putting any stress on my left ankle. I did mostly cycling, spinning, I also tried yoga (It hurt like a m-fer) & circuit training, but it wasn’t as satisfying as running is for me.
Now I can run! Well, baby steps I say, First order of business: getting some new running tennis shoes (doctors orders!). I tried some different shoes but I always end up buying Brooks running shoes. I usually get the Glycerins but I got the Ravenna 6 style this time. Not only are they pretty but they’re super comfy and kinda cushiony which comes in handy when running on the street. Also, I got my nike fuel band charged and back on my wrist and of course, my Garmin forerunner 220 watch. This keeps track of my heartbeat, distance and calories burned. I also downloaded some new tunes (which you’ll see in a list below) to listen to with my Bose headphones; a gift from my wonderful boyfriend. Ponytail & a Lululemon headband and I’m ready to hit the pavement, slowly but surely!

-Estoy SUPER emocionada de poder compartir con ustedes buenas noticias. Recientemente mi doctor me dió el visto bueno y me permitió volver a correr de nuevo! Para aquellos de ustedes que no están enterados me fascina correr. No había podido volver a correr desde que me lastimé el tobillo hace más de un año, mientras entrenaba para un maratón. En todo ese tiempo que no pude correr, tuve que ingeniármelas para poder ejercitarme; no podía hacer ningún ejercicio que le añadiera ningún tipo de estrés adicional a mi tobillo. Corrí bicicleta, hice clases de spinning, yoga (que me dolío como no se imaginan) etc.. Pero ninguno de esos ejercicios me llenaba como lo hacía correr.
Y ahora al fin lo puedo hacer! Poco a poco pero lo puedo hacer. Lo primero que hice fue comprarme un par de tennis o (zapatillas deportivas) nuevos, por ordenes directas de mi doctor, obviamente. Me trate muchísimos modelos diferentes pero terminé comprando tennis de correr de la marca que siempre compro, Brooks el modelo Ravenna 6, que son cómodos , se ven bien y me protegen bien cuando corro en superficies duras como la carretera. Volví y me puse en mi muñeca mi Nike Fuel Band que contabiliza los pasos que doy y calorías que quemo a diario, y mi reloj Garmin Forerunner 220 para calcular las distancias y mis palpitaciones. Descargué varias canciones nuevas, (algunas de las cuales, les menciono en la lista abajo) me pongo mis audífonos Bose, y mi bandita de pelo de Lululemon y estoy lista para empezar ya! Ya les contare como me fue!
